If you love film, then the Cinema Museum in Kennington is the place to spend an hour or two of unalloyed nostalgia. It houses a unique collection of artefacts, memorabilia and equipment with its own small cinema, plush seats and all, and a bar/café.
Your editor has arranged a tour booking for 2.30pm, 12 July 2014, and invites members to join at the concession price of £7 per head (full price would be £10). The guided tour lasts about 1½ hours. The address is:
The Cinema Museum, 2 Dugard Way, off Renfrew Road — a turning off Kennington Lane, SE11 4TH.
Make your own way there, but I need to know the names of those coming by 31 May. Payments will be collected at the door.
The nearest stations are Elephant & Castle (rail and tube) and Kennington (tube). From 'the Elephant' it is about a 12 minute walk, or a 196 bus from outside the shopping mall will take you to Renfrew Road bus-stop, two minutes from the Museum.
Please advise me by phone, letter, or email* of your coming, so that I may inform the Museum in good time. Fewer than six will mean payment of the full price of £10, while 15 is about the maximum number they can manage comfortably at one time.
Accompanied children, welcome — Make Their Day!
